First Line-up Announcement for 2018

This year’s first Fuji Rock announcement is out and it’s comfortingly familiar.
Heading up this year’s first fest announcement is multi-Grammy-winning hip-hop star Kendrick Lamar, whose highly-lauded album “Damn” sat at the top of the Billboard charts at the end of 2017. Lamar just this week dropped a new single with SZA for the forthcoming “Black Panther” soundtrack.
Pharrell Williams-fronted hip-hop-rock trio N.E.R.D are also set to play the festival again. The band’s most recent album appeared in December last year, featuring a collaboration with Kendrick Lamar, whose single “Humble” was remixed by Skrillex, the latter completing the early headliners. With no album since 2014, it was revealed at the end of 2017 that the former emo-rocker turned international DJ is working on a new album so we’ll be dancing to all-new tunes at this year’s fest.
The first three acts have all played Fuji Rock before, and so far the rest of the line-up is mostly made up of Fuji Rock returnees, including MGMT and Vampire Weekend. Of note for this year as Fuji Rock newcomers we’ll be seeing Scottish synth-poppers CHVRCHES, who last week revealed a taste of their highly-anticipated forthcoming album with “Get Out”.
An interesting addition is Carla Thomas, dubbed the “Queen Of Memphis Soul”, whose musical career began in 1960, recording with her father Rufus Thomas and going on to collaborate with Otis Redding in 1967.
With plenty of other bands announced on the line-up and with hundreds more to come, we’d love to hear your thoughts on this year’s artists.
